Phi Phi Islands and Phuket, Thailand

Off to Phi Phi Islands to get Scuba Certified. Then Phuket, Thailand for 5 days!

But First!

A full day and half of traveling to even make it to Phi Phi Islands…

We took a 2-hour Ferry from Ko Pha Ngan to the Raja Ferry Port, back onto the mainland.

moon to phuket

We rented a car to drive from Raja Ferry Port to our hotel in Krabi, Thailand. About a 4-hour drive.

TIPS & TRIBULATIONS: Looking back, I HATED renting a car! It was way too expensive, and I thought they ripped us off. But at the time it was our only option getting from point A to point B.

We dropped our rental car off at the Krabi airport and had arranged for our hotel to pick us up here.

RECOMMEND: Staying at Uncle House

This is a family run hotel and they are as sweet as can be! The Hotel was not walking distance to much but the hotel drove us anywhere we wanted to go. Took us to explore their popular night markets.

Next morning we caught a Ferry from the Klong Jilad Pier to the Tonsai Pier: Koh Phi Phi.

Finally arriving to Phi Phi island!

Cobble stone roads have you weaving between shop after shop, bar after bar. The ocean peeking through each building never letting you forget she is there. Music feels the air from afternoon pool parties to evening fire dancers performing on the beach.

You might heard of this island from the movie “the beach” with Leonardo DiCaprio.

RECOMMEND: Staying at PP Charlie Beach Resort Koh Phi Phi

Right on the ocean and walking distance to everything. The hotel has an amazing outdoor infinite pool that overlooks the ocean. We spent a lot of time in the pool.

We immediately went to a pool party at PP Princess Resort, ordered a bucket drink, and relaxeddd after a day and half of traveling.

RECOMMEND: Getting scuba certified with Princess Divers.

Shout out to our girl Jennifer for being the best instructor! TEAM AF!

We spent the next 3 days, completing an online program, a confined water session and four open water dives.

Where do I begin to explain the pure joy in exploring another world on your own world?? Its unreal.

If we weren’t scuba diving, we were on the beach, or at our pool with a drink in our hand. The first part of the trip was very go, go, go but here we were on island time!

Slinky Beach Bar –  fire show on the beach.

Stockholm Syndrome – Beer pong tables.

Banana Bar – very chill, roof top bar over looking the ocean with nightly movie showings.

♥After 5 amazing days in the Phi Phi islands, we were off to our last stop of the trip: Phuket, Thailand!

Splurging one last time, you best believe we got a hotel with a  private pool!

Since we were flying home from Phuket International, we choose to stay close to the airport.

Kamala Beach is a 33 minute drive to the airport and gorgeous!

RECOMMEND:  Amala Grand Bleu Resort

You always hear about private pools in Southeast Asia, so I obviously I wanted to try to experience it. It was surprisingly really hard to find one, and when you did they were pretty expensive. I felt that Amala Grand Bleu resort was a great price for the room we got! It might be a little out of the way from the main strip of Kamala Beach but you can rent mopeds from the hotel!

We had nothing planned for Phuket. Some times the best times are the unplanned.

We spent a whole day not leaving our hotel, getting tipsy and hanging in the pool.

We went scuba diving with Merlin Divers.  Doing two more dives!

Phuket was the most expensive place we traveled to.

We did have an amazing dinner at Etho’s Restaurant and Lounge. Roof top restaurant over looking the ocean, steak dinners and wine!

Phuket was the vacation we all want and need in our lives. Bougee and Beachy.

Looking back on traveling 5 weeks in Southeast Asia.. DO IT! It can only change you for the better.

When comparing my travels in Vietnam to Thailand.

Go to Vietnam! The hospitality, THE FOOD and cost was unparalleled to Thailand.

There are tons of experiences, excursions and life to do and see! At all of our destinations we were making friends and learning about their excursions! Like the Gibbions Experience in Laos where you sleep in huge treehouses in the rainforest or visiting ancient Ankor Wat in Cambodia!

Whatever you decide to do, i hope this has helped you plan your trip to Southeast Asia!

Stay Kind,
