Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is in the North Central Coast region of Vietnam. It is said that the cave system here, is composed of 300 caves and grotto’s.
Including the worlds 1st and 2nd largest caves!
( This photo is where they filmed this latest King Kong! “King Kong: Skull Island” )

We booked a room at Phong Nha Lake house. Since we had missed our flight and had to catch an evening train, we got to our room at 6a.m and were being picked up at 8a.m by Oxalis Adventure Tours. We did not get to stay here very long but the customer service was amazing. They even opened their kitchen early to make us breakfast for the road.
This trek was probably my favorite excursion we did for the whole trip! You could not experience this anywhere else.
RECOMMEND: Booking Oxalis Adventure Tours and doing the Wild Tu Lan Cave Explorer Package for 3 days/ 2 nights.
A 17 km trek through the jungle and over mountains. 4 km of exploring multiple caves and 1 km swimming actually in those caves! Oxalis really takes care of you, preparing all your food and having camp ready for you.

Setting off on our adventure!

Our first stop was lunch at Rat Cave also known as “King Kong’s Home.”

Our Pho Na trekking group made the experience that much better. Spending 3 days with these amazing people in a jungle will really bond you. One of them actually told me that i would love to live in Sacramento, CA… Over a year later and i now live in Sacramento, California!

We finally made it to camp and took a refreshing dip! The next morning we were swimming into the cave behind Jordan, squeezing our way through a cave system that will blow your mind.
This was my first time every being in a cave. So much unique beauty growing in complete darkness. These stalagmite formations were out of this world.
We had to climb a very tall ladder to get out of the cave. I am not afraid of heights but man this was a little nerve racking for me.
From Cave Man –> Man

This Trek opened my eyes to so much. That as happy as i was to be in Vietnam. I had never looked at traveling America like i had Vietnam. There is so much in the US to explore without flying somewhere. Thus, the idea of moving to California and living the van life was born.
We had another day to explore Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. We rented mopeds and scooted to Paradise Cave.
Footage of me having the time of my life on a moped!
Not included: footage of me wiping out on the moped. I only wrecked once on this whole trip and Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park was the place it happened.

Having an extra day to sleep in, and explore on our time, was the cherry on top! We booked a different hotel then our first so we could stay in town.
RECOMMNED: Staying at Thuong_Hai_Hotel. This hotel is on a busy street with lots of people, food and actually a good amount of young adults. They have an awesome rooftop you can hangout on that over looks the mountains.
