Hello! My name is Kaitlin Deaver

I grew up on the East Coast my whole life.

In 2017, I made the decision to move out west!  I fell in love with the California (and maybe a certain someone) during a 25 day camping trip to 5 different California National and State Parks.

nc to ca

(40 hours to drive across America! We took I40, stopping in Nashville, TN, Amarillo, TX, took time to go site seeing at the Grand Canyon, and then a home stretch to Sacramento!)

When I tell people, I found my roommate Madeleine on craigslist, every reaction is the same, a gasped, followed by a shocking look that I’m still alive. Not all people on craigslist are sketchy, and it ended up being the best decision I could have made moving out here.

I’m 28 years old; I am from Charlotte, North Carolina, and I am best friends with my two brothers and sister.

I went to East Carolina University, GO PIRATES! And studied abroad in Orebro, Sweden for 6 months during my spring semester 2010. If I could recommend anything for a college student, it would be to study abroad! I was able to travel to 13 different countries! Saw the Northern lights in Lapland, popped Champagne at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, went to Queens Day in Amsterdam, White Sensation in Norway and even visited Russia!

With the plan of leaving my job and moving across the country. I was able to travel before the big move. We Choose Southeast Asia. I traveled around Thailand and Vietnam for a month. It was stunning, magical and unforgettable. I cant wait to go back one day!

Check out my travels in South East Asia!

Chiang Mia
Hanoi & Sapa,
Ha Long Bay,
Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park,
Hue to Hoi An,
Ko Pha-Ngan,
Phi Phi Islands & Phuket.

After my overseas travels, I was hungry for more! My boyfriend Jordan asked if I wanted to come explore California Parks with him and I did not hesitate to say no!

Our 25-day camping trip to:

Patrick’s Point State Park,
Jedediah Smith Redwood National Park,
Yosemite National Park,
Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park
Joshua Tree National Park

was out of this world! and thus i was sold on California.  (From the beginning i was set on moving to Denver, CO.)

I choose to live in Sacramento because of its central location. Only two hours from the Pacific Coast, and one hour from the mountains of Lake Tahoe!

So here I am now, almost 2 years later, still living in Sacramento,California (renting this cute green house) and loving it!

I am here to spread ALL my newfound love and perspective for camping, hiking and backpacking while being kind a long the way!

As always!

Stay Kind,
